Where we are heading with the social media?

First I will share a video that I watched and shared. Take a moment to look at the following video and try to think how much this is applicable for you.

As nicely crafted in the video, we have crossed the border of the social media. It has really become a social part of the human being. Human beings are social creatures. By nature we like to be social and it has helped a lot in evolution. Social media has sucked this need from humans. We actually feel we are connected but I would say we are technically connected but socially isolated. We do not see the social elements of people are getting improved.

You can see thousands of arguments and fake personalities in social media but you will rarely see a person talking an audience confidently. I would say its an active interaction in social media and passive interaction in your real world. This does not sound right neither right.

Anyway, the purpose of this article is not to talk further on this topic but to talk about the next level of the internet use.

The following site has very nice predictions on the same topic:
http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/social-media-predictions-2013/

I personally think that there is a huge vacuum in the social media right now. Yes, it has a range of advantages if you do it right. For an example, your home made products can be sold through out the world that means you do not have to have a nice looking big showroom and nicely dress staff. Instead you just need to have a ebay or Amezon account. This helps the economy as well. However, there is still a vacuum thats why we do not feel this is not right. That is why we feel like we are leading to social isolation.

The same trend will continue for some more time leaving highly connected content, business and highly disconnected public.

I think we should devide the topic into the following two:

Integrated service platforms, for an example all our utility bills will be available on your phone. You should be able to see the real time charge for your usage. There will be more and more products will be integrated in the near future. The integrated medial device will connect you to internet and to your doctor so that you do not have to bother on manually recording anything. This is actually a very good improvement. This is not social media which we are talking as the topic. This is just the benefits of advance communication devices and internet availability not social media. Education is another key area where we will be integrated to.

Social media aspects
This will get worst. Facebook will continue to suck the human social elements more and more. I am sure that google is still waiting to make the market move. Google has been working on integrating all the services during last decade. While Facebook building a addiction to internet and social media, Google was nicely taking the advantage of being the leader of integrated services. They have released devices with its own brand name which further leads them to control even the user preference. For an example, Nexus will influence you to use hangout through your phone. We see plenty of hangouts in screens which obviously should have been skype. We usually do not notice this invasion. At some point they will strike with Google+ which is obviously not as popular as Facebook. At some point it will make the turn. People are just looking for a change, the change does not have to be better than what you have right now but it has to be different. Just imagine how many social media trends we experienced during last decade. Facebook will also face the same. Google will slowly turn down Facebook market share in the coming years.

Finally, I would think that there will be resistance emerge from natural instincts which will create a social vacuum in the social media industry. Why would you share a pic if it is already shared through your device? Its just same as, why would you send your spreadsheet to your colleague? its just shared through drive. The same will happen to social aspects as well. The next generation market is always within what we feel right now about the current market. We feel this is not right then something will come and we will go for that. It doesnt mean that the next move will be right but people just move.

At least for now, we should realize that social media does not lead the real social connections. I would rather have few good friends than 500 connections in my facebook profile. I would never want to go on a trip just to take a picture and post it in my facebook. I would never post a picture as the first thing of my trip.
