Why we are lack of innovations? Why we are not passionate?

During my life I have seen very less passionate software engineering professionals. Most of us are doing this job because we did not have enough choices in our education system. I am sure if you think back you will agree with me that you loved doing certain stuffs like building electronic circuits, some reading history books, some doing journalism, some studying chemistry and many more. However most of us ended up with a selected choice not with a choice that we select. There are lot of reasons for that. The market demand, your earning potential, recognition from the community and more importantly how you are going to live with your passionate life? In this part of the world you will hardly get better income in your choices. For an example an university professor of chemistry will earn as the same amount as a software engineer. Therefore it is obvious that people cannot make their own choice and will have to pick selected choices.

I had a friend who was brilliant in all the subjects and his marks were sufficient to enroll into the medical college. In fact he was the island 34th in Bio stream. We all thought he is going to be a doctor but surprisingly he selected chemistry which is far below than medicine in terms of cut off marks. This guy was the only person who did all the chemistry lab practicals properly. Today he is serving to a world class university as a Phd candidate. He picked what he is passionate. 

That is not a common story in this part of the world. When a person is doing what he likes that means what he believes where he\she suites more, they will pioneer the innovation. In the other part of the world you will see a fair comparison of all professions. There is no big difference in doing a mechanic job and being a doctor. Therefore it is not hard to make the choice.

You may think that there are people for an example an automobile mechanic running a very good repair center. You will argue that if are passionate you will succeed. For me that is wrong. Passionate people who have entrepreneurship will succeed in business. It will likely reduce the innovations. There are tons of example to show successful people who build empires from nothing. That is not the point here, the classic example is my friend mentioned above. He is has no business skills, managerial skills but he is a passionate scientist. He could have picked being a doctor but he made the hard decision that he is going be less treated being a guy what he thinks he is capable of.

I think this is the main reason why other part of the world leading the technology of the world. They have passionate professional working on things that they think they are capable of. In the meantime they will be equally treated in terms of financially and recognition by the community.
