What leadership styles is right?

What is the best leadership Style? OR What is the most suitable leadership style?

These are the two questions I have in my mind. Can we really say a certain type of a leadership style is better than another? or it is merely depends on the context.

Leadership styles are enormous and it certainly depends on individual traits. However as per literature this can be modeled into few key styles. I have seen different leadership style of my bosses and in fact it is one of the reasons to write this post too.

Below image clearly demonstrate what we know today. I am not going to talk about each and every crisis as they are self explanatory. However lets not worry or think a lot about this model. This is just a supporting illustration for the article.

I think it is a simple model needed to answer the two questions asked at the beginning.  I could not find an illustration on web hence had to draw it by myself. Sorry for bad hand writing.

Every team, department, organization goes in a life cycle along with the time(of course life-cycle is something to do with time).  We all know the popular curve for organization life cycle yet it can be applied to a team, a department etc. What I think is that an organization should have a right blend of leadership styles in its team. Once the company is positioned stable then we need to have certain controls to persist the current position(refer to the control crisis in the first figure). This is the different leadership capacity. In the meantime we need to have people who would reshape the present and do the leapfrogging part of the company. This is vital for the growth of the business. I truly do not think that there is a leadership model which can serve both purposes. This is because

In summary, a group that run the organization needs to have the right blend. It needs to contain more structured managers as well as managers who are very dynamic, risk taking, breaking and set new standards. However we need to understand that nothing is inferior. It is just that both facets of leadership styles are critically needed for a company/organization. If they are deployed wisely and strategically most of the crisis illustrated in above figure, can be avoided.
